Our History
Acts Ministries International (AMI) is an international apostolic ministry based in Phoenix Arizona, and directed by Dr Dennis Bourns. At an AMI Leadership Conference in Belfast March 2003 Dennis met Andrew Montgomery.
Andrew accepted an invitation from Dennis and joined him as part of an AMI team to Africa in May 2003 where he experienced a paradigm shift and awakening to the kingdom of God and Holy Spirit power: many healings, salvations, signs and wonders.
Dennis and Andrew recognised a Holy Spirit appointed relationship and Andrew pursued Dennis for discipleship participating in many AMI trips together (over 20 nations to date).
In 2007 Andrew became an associate with AMI and AMI Ireland was formed in 2008. This is a renewal ministry with the purpose of:
- Stirring Holy Spirit activity and ongoing reality of God’s presence.
- Encountering Holy Spirit for personal growth and transformation.
- Equipping the saints in spiritual gift function.
During these years, Colin Woodward, who was also at the 2003 AMI Leadership Conference, repeated a similar cycle with Andrew: a Holy Spirit appointed relationship and intentional discipleship. Pastoral giftedness and a church planting call were identified in Colin as he matured.
In August 2013 Dennis, Andrew and Colin met after much prayer and seeking of the Holy Spirit. There, as it seemed good to them and the Holy Spirit Acts 15:28, it was determined and decided to plant a church. Subsequently, receiving revelation to plant Destination Church Belfast in the Valley area of Newtownabbey.
